"Gejala Emo mula menular" what in the world?

I'm sure most of you have read the article posted by Kosmo! earlier today. I for one think that the article is complete and utter bullshit. First off, they completely misinterpret the whole meaning of emo. according to Wikipedia, Emo is a style of rock music characterized by melodic musicianship and expressive, often confessional lyrics. It does not mean songs that pushes teens to slit their own wrists and commit suicide. These ignorant people seem to think that Emo is some sort of cult that consists of depressed teens having free sex, taking drugs and apparently to Kosmo! drinking their own blood. I'm sorry but this just seems a little too far off for me, their take on 'emo' reminds me of a weird B-Rated movie which should not be in production in the first place.

and their example of how 'emo' is a bad influence to teens is this ridiculous picture of a photo album titled "Emo Kisses" on some random person's facebook. I mean c'mon, excuse me sir but emo is a music genre in which musicians express their emotions through a song. what you're showing us are just posers who, just like you, do not get what emo truly means. Your obvious stupidity, ignorance and laziness reflects on this horrendous article simply because you want to cause a stir in the media since it's so close to the big Rockaway Festival (which features emo bands The Used, All Time Low and Story Of The Year). Please don't simply google 'emo' and look at the pictures and give your own take on it when you don't even understand it. Emo songs don't always relate to death and misery, most emo songs are about love and life and their struggle through the hard times. That is emotion. A complex psychophysiological experience of an individual's state of mind and these artists are just merely expressing them. 

Then they go and give examples of emo bands such as My Chemical Romance, Jimmy Eat World dan The Promise Ring. It's pretty obvious that the writers are trying to point out that music from the states are all bad influences to the teens here. And their take on the style of emo bands is apparently the style of a drag queen who's got it bad;

"Penampilan kumpulan Emo mudah dikenali kerana mereka biasanya memakai celak di mata, gaya rambut panjang dan berwarna menutupi sebahagian daripada wajah mereka selain berseluar ketat."

Yes, I agree that My Chemical Romance may dress like that in some point in their existance but Jimmy Eat World? The Promise Ring? are you fucking blind? or.... I just don't know what to say. These people really need to do some real research on the music scene in general. I listened to emo bands like My Chemical Romance & Jimmy Eat World too but I didn't ever thought slitting my own wrists. I'm still living aren't I? Their music didn't damage me, in fact some of their songs are quite inspiring.

And this particular sentence truly shows how shallow, misunderstood and just plain silly this article is;

"Sambil itu, mereka mula menghayati mesej membunuh diri berdasarkan lirik-lirik lagu berkenaan dan ada antara mereka mula mencederakan diri masing-masing dengan senjata tajam ketika mendengar lagu itu."

Ya Allah, yang ni tak tahan HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I mean come on, HELLO, YOU ARE ON PLANET EARTH. Snap back to reality please, I beg of you.
